Synopsis by Kathleen Wildasin
The second part of the journey on the SSB-Bruenig Line's narrow-gauge railway begins where the first ended -- in Meiringen, a quaint village nestled in the Swiss Alps. From there, the train meanders through Switzerland's magnificent lake country to Bruenig Pass where a cog-rail system is used for the panoramic ascent. Descending through the endless natural beauty of the countryside, the train stops in Sarnen, the capital of the Canton of Obwalden, for a tour of the Baroque open-air parliament. The journey ends in Lucerne with visits to the city's old quarter and the railway portion of the Swiss National Transport Museum.
