Synopsis by Janiss Garza

George Sidney and Charlie Murray, stars of The Cohens and the Kellys, play virtually the same characters here under different names. As with The Cohens and the Kellys, this film is a take on the Abie's Irish Rose theme. Abe Finklebaum (Sidney) and his wife, Rosie (Vera Gordon), are friends with Patrick O'Brien (Murray). O'Brien's son, Jimmie (Jack Mulhall), falls in love with the Finklebaums' daughter, Miriam (Jobyna Ralston). Rosie, however, isn't so sure about the match, and wants her daughter to wed Sam Berkowitz (Gaston Glass). The two fathers, meanwhile, have decided to go into a business venture together which involves importing a mysterious product from the Bahamas. Berkowitz, believing it to be booze, tips off the prohibition officers, and both fathers, along with Jimmie are arrested. Berkowitz offers to have Miriam's father released if she marries him. She is about to agree when it is discovered that the mysterious shipment is only molasses. Berkowitz himself is discovered to be a bootlegger, and Miriam happily winds up with Jimmie.
