Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The British Supermarket Sweep was a carbon copy of the American game show of the same name. In each episode, three teams of two contestants each were let loose with shopping carts in a studio mockup of a "typical" supermarket, stocking up as many items as possible within a given time-frame. The series debuted on ITV in 1993, with busy British "presenter" Dale Winton as host. A few years later, in deference to its star, the series' title was officially changed to Dale's Supermarket Sweep.
