Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man is slowly driven mad by doubts over his wife's fidelity in this drama from South Korea. Ho-sang (Im Hyeong-guk) and his wife Min-jeong are involved in a serious auto accident that sends them both to the hospital. While Ho-sang's injuries are minimal, Min-jeong falls into a coma, and while going through her belongings, he finds a novel she's been reading, "Sundays in August." Inside the book is a letter that seems to be in her handwriting, alluding to an affair with another man that took place years before. While on the surface Ho-sang continues to loyally look after his wife, the notion of her possible infidelity drives him to distraction, and he tries to track down her lover based on a description in the letter. Meanwhile, Si-nae (Yang Eun-yong), Ho-sang's doctor, becomes fascinated by the mystery behind Min-jeong's letter and wants to read "Sundays in August" to see if it's relevant to the case. However, finding a copy proves to be difficult, and he falls in with an eccentric book dealer, So-kook (Oh Jeong-se).
