Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Writer/director Darezhan Omirbayev draws inspiration from Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment to craft this drama about an alienated philosophy student (Nurlan Baitasov) who tests the theory of social Darwinism by committing a violent robbery. After giving the money to a struggling poet (Edige Bolysbayev), the student falls in love with the man's deaf daughter (Maya Serikbayeva) and decides to turn himself in to police.
