Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This British game show began its ITV run in 1986 under the title Strike It Lucky, with the inexhaustible Michael Barrymore as host. On each episode, three teams of two players each answered multiple-choice questions, flashed on an archway comprised of tiny TV monitors. For each correct answer, the players moved along the archway toward huge cash and merchandise prizes -- all the while risking the loss of everything they'd won should they happen to land upon a monitor bearing the phrase "Hotspot." In 1996, the series' title was changed to Strike It Rich for legal reasons, though it had nothing whatever to do with the American TV human-interest program of the same name.
