After making love in the woods, a boy and his girlfriend have an accident while riding on his motorcycle. They were on their way to an elopement and an escape from the boy's parents. The boy is killed and his death has left an enormous hole in his parents' lives. They look up the girl, and, despite some initial hostility become friendly. When they discover that she has no particular kin or connections, they invite her to live with them. In this setting, they make further discoveries about one another.
