Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Inaugurated by HBO2 on August 12, 2003, Still Kicking, Still Laughing was an anthology series comprised of independently made documentaries about colorful senior citizens. The project was launched with Uncle Frank, an in-depth study of a personable 85-year-old keyboardist. Subsequent offerings included Funny Old Guys, about a group of veteran TV comedy writers; The Checker King, the story of 81-year-old Iowan who went to the checker-playing Nationals after being away from the boards for six years; Atomic Ed and the Black Hole, a profile of ex-Los Alamos scientist Edward Grothus; Facing Arthur, about the relationship between a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor and the 21-year-old grandson of a German soldier; and Nine Good Teeth, the saga of a centenarian Italian grandmother and self-appointed family historian.
