Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge (2003)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
After several years of starring on his own WB sitcom, Steve Harvey returned to the network to helm a weekly, hour-long variety show. The guests were not the usual run of A- and B-list showbiz celebrities, but instead what Harvey described as "the superstars of your neighborhood": otherwise normal, everyday people with unusual and/or peculiar talents. Performers ranged from a four-year-old political expert to a 90-year-old rap artist. Distancing this program from the usual "let's make fun of innocent people" talent show was the fact that the guests performed their acts before a warm and appreciative host and studio audience, and were neither booed or rushed off the stage. Providing low-key but entertaining Thursday-night competition for rival series Friends and Survivor, Steve Harvey's Big Time debuted September 10, 2003.
