On the Ivory Coast, some common ailments are caused by the stress of cultural change. When Western medicine fails to bring relief, many patients seek out prophet-healers who can help with both physical and emotional problems. In this beautifully shot documentary, the focus is on Sebim Odjo, who relies on a combination of Christian, Muslim, and African healing practices. Spite:An African Prophet-Healer follows Odjo as he moderates disputes, tracks down the sources of illness, and uses his powers to heal. A patient ill with spite is cured through water cure.
