Synopsis by Rob Ferrier

Spies is a video series dedicated to the secret wars that have raged through the past decades. Through archival footage, interviews with key players, and excerpts from unpublished memoirs and recently declassified sources, this series attempts to put a human face on the missions of men and women who until now have lurked in the shadows. Material from the archives of the CIA, FBI, KGB, and Mossad are used extensively. In "Tracking Hitler's Rockets," Winston Churchill's son-in-law leads a team charged with hunting down the Nazi V-1 and V-2 rockets, a quest that put in motion the post-war world battle for rocket power domination. The second segment, "Solo Over Russia," examines the odyssey of Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 pilot shot down over Soviet Russia and subsequently tried and "traded" for Soviet spy Rudolf Abel before being returned to the United States.
