Synopsis by Mark Deming
In professional auto racing, split-second timing can mean the difference between life and death, and that goes for the track's crew as well as the drivers. Speedway Survival is a documentary which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the Indianapolis Speedway's crash and rescue team, who leap into action when there's a wreck on the track during the Indy 500, or any of the prestigious track's other events. The film offers a look at the strategy and technology behind rescuing drivers and clearing wrecking in the midst of a race, as well as exciting footage of these brave men and women in action.
