Known variously as Specials and The Specials, this six-part drama series was produced by BBC television's Birmingham division. Created by Brian Degas and Harry Robertson, the series zeroed in on a group of "average" citizens who, in their spare time, served as volunteer Special Constables. Many of the episodes dealt with the rocky relationship between the male members of the squad and the two females, Viv (Cindy O'Callaghan) and Anjali (Kim Vithana). Specials aired over BBC1 in 1991.
