Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
When an expectant single mother returns to her native village at the end of the Balkan Wars, her staunchly traditional family attempts to set her up with a mate before the family is ostracized by their reactionary community in director Ognjen Svilicic's award-winning family drama. Upon discovering that their daughter has become impregnated during her tenure in Germany, Mirjana's conservative family hastily implores a local Mafioso to find her a mate lest the family in hopes of dodging the wrath of their judgmental community. Mirjana objects to the attempted matchmaking though, opting instead to seek solace in the arms of kindly local bomb detonator Mate; a man who makes his living by exploding the abandoned mines left over from the war. Though the tentative arrangement momentarily placates Mirjana's family and diffuses the volatile situation for the time being, the birth of the eagerly awaited child results in an entirely new, and completely unforeseen, controversy.
