Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Something of an oddity for British television of the 1950s, the weekly sitcom Something in the City was based on an American TV original. Though not so credited, the program was inspired by "The Commuters," a recurring sketch on Sid Caesar's various post-Your Show of Shows projects. The stories revolved around three businessmen who shuttled via train between their jobs in the city and their wives in the suburbs. Eric Barker, no mean comic talent in his own right, essayed the role created by Sid Caesar. Packaged by Jack Hylton Productions for Associated Rediffusion, Something in the City lasted five episodes, telecast from July 6 to August 3, 1959.
