Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
In this pseudo-documentary about an actor at the Avignon Theater Festival, director Raul Ruiz explores issues concerning the nature of the cinematic and theatrical venues and their relationship to life, to each other, and to reality. While the actor wanders around the festival, snatches of plays are shown, and his questions about his chosen profession considered. Given the nature of the subject matter in La Presence Reele, film buffs may find the philosophizing interesting, others may not.
