A veteran artist from China and his talented students paint snuff boxes that centuries later become museum pieces in this melodrama from Hong Kong. The film begins with a guided tour of the collection of the antique boxes in museums in London and Paris. A feminist side plot has a woman daring to enter a bathhouse and the tragic consequences of a rape victim. A fine feature despite the misspelling of subtitles.
