Synopsis by Mark Deming
A band of rebels and outcasts are forced to take a disciplined look at themselves in this independent drama from Canada. Kris (Kris Foley) is a skateboarder who lives in Vancouver with his girlfriend Kathy (Kathy Miller) in a run-down rental house their friends call "the Crashpad." For years, Kris and his buddies have used the pad as home base for their boarding adventures as they work on a documentary on the skater's life and search for new skate spots in and around the city. However, the outside world begins to intrude on their bohemian lifestyle when Kris and Kathy get word that they're soon to be evicted, as their landlord has handed them a sizable rent increase they can't afford to pay. Beyond the immediate crisis of finding a new place to live, Kris also begins to wonder if he's getting a little old for the layabout life of a skate rat, and the crew suddenly realize they have only a month to complete their long gestating video project. Sk8 Life stars a handful of real-life Canadian skaters, including Dustin Monte, Chad Dickson, Silas Borsos, Mark Bajcar and Alison Matasi.
