A depiction of a bleak future where it rains acid and dimension-hopping monsters have begun plaguing the Earth. Unable to deal with this new threat, the police create the psionic, magic-wielding Attacked Mystification Police. While the film adheres to the traditional denouement of this setup, its the film's ambience which has made it an underground classic. The vision of the future in Silent Mobius is firmly based in a standard post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk view. Michitaka Kikuchi has, however, managed to make this the bleakest world ever imagined, one where the oppression and troubles of humanity seem not overdone, but strangely in consonance with today. What emerges is a science fiction film that breaks through the limits of its fantasy and becomes realism.
