Synopsis by Janiss Garza
In this comedy drama, based on the play by Hulbert Footner, Clara Kimball Young plays the title character, whose father, railroad president Egerton Kaye (George Backus), is in danger of being voted out. His competition is financier T.J. Magen (George Fawcett), with strong aid from his right hand man, John Rowson (Corliss Giles). But Shirley helps her father, first by taking Magen's daughter Daisy (Claire Whitney) under her wing and bringing her into her social circles, then by manipulating the wives of the stockholders. The women won't let their husband's proxies go to Magen, and the grateful Daisy, who has found an Earl (John Sunderland) for a husband, makes her father leave Kaye alone. Rowson is disgusted by all this, but Shirley goes to him and offers him the title of general manager. He accepts the title, and accepts Shirley, too.
