Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The standard "smart brunette-dumb blonde" format was applied effectively to the British sitcom Sharon and Elsie. The titular heroines worked as secretaries in the Manchester printing firm James Blake and Son, which specialized in treacly greeting cards. Janette Beverly was seen as airheaded blonde Sharon Wilkes, while top-billed Brigit Forsyth appeared as the more level-headed (and slightly older) Else Beecroft. The 12 half-hour episodes of Sharon and Elsie were beamed out by BBC2 over a two-year period, beginning January 27, 1984.
