Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Gilbert and Amelia Jackson (Daniel Gilfeather and Mollie McConnell) anxiously await the arrival of their son from college. But when he comes home, he announces that he has married a waitress, and the couple -- who had higher expectations for their son -- are horrified. Mr. Jackson angrily throws the young man out of the house, upsetting Mrs. Jackson even more, and she swears never to talk to her husband again. A few years pass and not a word is heard from the son, but when he goes West, he has his wife (Lucy Payton) rent a little cottage next to his parents. The young couple's child, Little Mary (silent child star Baby Marie Osborne) climbs over the fence separating the two properties and charms the lonely and unhappy old couple to no end. They have no idea that Little Mary is their grandchild until Mr. Jackson hires a detective to track down his son. When he sends a wire West, asking him to come home, all is revealed.
