Although the drainpipe breaks away from the wall of the Evans Aero Corp. headquarters, Craig McCoy (John Wayne) lands safely on a roof below. Two of Gardner's men, Boyle (Yakima Canutt and Moore (Bud Osborne), catch up with the fleeing Gregorys, Jean (Dorothy Gulliver) and her father Nathan (Edward Hearn), and cunningly bring them to the Ridpath Sanitarium where Gregory's claim to be a kidnap victim is treated as mental illness. By pretending to be a physician, Craig manages to free both father and daughter but is himself knocked unconscious by Moore. With the henchmen in hot pursuit, Gregory and Jean's car race through a roadblock and appears to explode.
