Synopsis by Mark Deming
Formed by students at Columbia University in 1969, Sha Na Na were a band that took the sound of 1950s rock & roll and fused it with a high-energy stage show and a sense of humor that never looked down on the vintage sounds they loved. The group rose to stardom after an appearance at Woodstock, and later hosted a popular television series. Sha Na Na: In Concert features a latter-day version of the band playing some of the great hits of the first rock & roll era; selections include "Get a Job," "At the Hop," "Rock Around the Clock," "The Loco-Motion," and many more.
