Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This hilariously convoluted comedy was Lewis Milestone's first film as a director. He's also responsible for the screenplay, along with future film mogul Darryl F. Zanuck. There is a strike amongst private detectives, so the Vickers mansion on Long Island is left unguarded. Molly Brian (Marie Prevost) and Joe Hagney (John Patrick) break in and loot the safe. They are caught, however, by Jerry Winters (Clive Brook), another crook, who takes the money. The three of them, in turn, are discovered by Holy Joe McDowell (Claude Gillingwater) and his wife (Mathilde Brundage), who claim to be friends of the Vickers. Molly, Hagney, and Winters say they are the household help, not realizing that Holy Joe and his wife are crooks, too. Things get even more complicated when a doctor (Dan Mason) -- also a crook -- places quarantine on the house. Molly and Winters wind up falling in love and deciding to go straight, while Holy Joe takes the rap for the stolen jewels so the couple can make a clean getaway. They marry and make a living selling burglar alarms.
