Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

The year was 1918 and World War I had just drawn to a close. As nations of the world began the healing process and attempted to make sense of the death and destruction that surrounded them, few would have suspected that a silent killer would soon emerge to claim a staggering 40 million victims worldwide -- four times the number of wartime casualties caused by any manmade war machine. To this day, the cause and strain of this particular flu still continues to elude virologists and epidemiologists. With the threat of the Asian Bird Flu looming large over the heads of many, this revealing look at one of history's deadliest epidemics offers a sobering meditation on the power of the virus, and the susceptibility of the human race to a microscopic killer.
