Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

This anthropological and political documentary explores various minority groups in the Philippines who have been at odds with the government for a long time. The first group is the Igorota, a tribal unit moved into low-grade resettlement communities when the government completed an enormous dam, and as a result of that move, the tribe lost the necessary setting to preserve its way of life. In the southern part of Mindanao, peasant insurgents lead a fight against the Marcos government, and unlike the Igorota, they have taken up arms. Insofar as this documentary focuses on recording various kinds of opposition forces -- with a dash of verbal and visual polemics, it does not present a balanced score sheet of information. What is needed is some commentary on how or if these various groups might join together -- and how much do they agree or disagree with each other?
