Synopsis by Tracie Cooper
Produced by Donald Young, Sapana Sakya, and Kyung Sun Yu, this three-part documentary centers around several very different experiences within the Asian-American community, including Asian politician Gary Locke's effort to sell empowerment to his Asian constituents while convincing other voters that he won't cater to any particular ethnicity; a pair of Filipino doctors (longtime friends Martin Bautista and Jeffrey Lim) living in a rural Oklahoma town, and Korean-American actress Lela Lee, originator of the stereotype-bashing comic strip Angry Little Asian Girl. The film dissects the events and prejudices that have led some into assimilation within American culture, while leaving others nostalgic for their homeland.
