Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The CBC network's favorite reality show "Canadian Gaffes and Practical Amusements" is given a showing by SCTV, with handsome Philip Marks (Joe Flaherty) falling victim to doorbell practical amusement and distinguished newsman Lionel Napier-Humphries (Martin Short) participating in the talking trash can practical amusement. But the highlight of the evening is "Ed Grimley's Celebrity Fairy Tales," a delightfully barbed satire of Shelley Duvall's Tall Tales and Legends. Tonight's attraction: "The Fella Who Was the Size of Someone's Thumb," starring Alan Alda (Flaherty).
