Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy! constitutes not an episode from one of Hanna-Barbera's three rabidly popular animated series concerning the titular canine (Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? [1969-1972, 1978], The New Scooby-Doo Movies [1972-1974], The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries [1984-1985]), but a newly-rendered mini-movie from Warner Bros. Studios, who took over the Scooby Doo franchise in the early 2000s. Unofficially based on several pirate-themed episodes from the original series, Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy! has the whole gang - Velma, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred and Scooby - taking an unofficial break from mysteries and setting sail on a cruise ship, which makes a beeline straight for the heart of the Bermuda Triangle. Once they arrive, a series of strange events unfold around the vessel, including the appearance of a spooky pirate ship, piloted by skeletons who fire their cannons at Scooby and his friends. Everyone must put the clues together and solve the mystery - before time runs out.
