Lamont (Demond Wilson) convinces Fred (Redd Foxx) to donate his collection of rare jazz records to the library, in hopes of securing a large tax deduction. But when Fred finds out that he could have made a great deal of money by selling his records, he decides to retrieve them by hook or by crook. Fred's fellow "crook" in this instance is Bubba (Don Bexley), who poses as the son of the late great blues musician Blind Mellow Jelly.
