Synopsis by Dennis Proctor

This 1987 video tours the San Juan Islands located between Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, British Columbia, taking viewers to Lopez Island, one of the 743 landmasses created during the Ice Age that make up the San Juans. Lopez is 29.5 square miles with a population of 2,100. Samish and Lummi Indians occupied the island for 200 years before explorers from Spain, Britain, and the United States discovered the land and launched an agricultural economy that eventually became known as the "Guernsey island," for its exports of cream, eggs, and poultry. Lopez is only one of the islands that viewers pass through on this tour of the San Juans. Also covered are Orcas Island, Shaw Island, and San Juan Island.
