Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A young woman whose ad in a Catalog of Russian Brides was answered by a lonely New York City programmer finds that adjusting to life in the United States is more of a challenge than she ever anticipated in director Natasha Guruleva's soul searching drama. All Tanya wanted was to escape her bleak surroundings and experience love, happiness, and prosperity in a new land. When middle-aged programmer Blake answered her ad in the catalog, it seemed as if Tanya's future was finally coming into focus. Over the following weeks Tanya and Blake engage in an intense correspondence, at the end of which Blake agrees to apply for a fiancée visa for his eager bride-to-be. When Tanya first arrives in New York, the isolation of living with a man immersed in routine and the loneliness of not knowing anyone else is almost too suffocating to endure. Nevertheless Tanya wants to make it work, and struggles to maintain her commitment to Blake. When Tanya's "trial" period is over, Blake admits to her that he doesn't think the relationship is working out and that he has made the decision to send her back home. But for Tanya there is no returning to Russia, so she sets out into the city alone - struggling from job to job as she attempts to earn enough cash just to survive.
