As the SDF-1 approaches Earth, Rick, Ben, Max, and Lisa deliver the report of their capture to Captain Gloval and the rest of SDF-1's high command. Most of the men are highly skeptical when they hear the wild tales of protoculture and the startling Zentraedi reactions to a simple kiss. Captain Gloval, however, feels that at the very least the threat of the estimated four or five million-strong Zentraedi fleet warrants a return to Earth as quickly as possible. As the SDF-1 nears the planet, the Zentraedi ships under Azonia surround it but do not attack. But Khyron has other plans, attacking the fortress in the hopes of preventing it from reaching home. An angry Azonia is forced to divide the fleet to stop Khyron's unauthorized strike, allowing the SDF-1 to slip through the Zentraedi net and return safely to the blue waters of Earth's oceans.
