Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This amusing comedy centers on the adventures of Christopher Hughes (Janzi Lolaschwili), a British telegraph worker who decides to stay in the U.S.S.R. after the revolution. As the Bolsheviks are gaining ground in their battle for the state of Georgia, Christopher foolishly stands up at a rally and defends his flag and honor -- and is thrown out of town for his efforts. He then remembers that an area of about 10 feet around each telegraph pole is British property, so he sets up housekeeping within such a perimeter. His story is that it is told from several points of view, including that of his love interest Anna (Nineli Chankwetadze), whom he meets on a train one day; his exploits and their denouement also jump around from their 1927 starting date.
