Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Filmmaker Daron Ker follows Cambodia's First National Baseball Team in the run-up to their crucial match in the 24th Sea Games while profiling their passionate coach Joe Cook, who as a young man narrowly escaped a grim fate at the hands of the Khmer Rouge, and later made it his mission to bring baseball to his beloved homeland. In the run-up to the competition that will find Cook's team playing five games against teams from other South East Asian nations, we get to see how the young players from rural backgrounds work together to make their dreams of athletic stardom come true, and meet the American coaches who travel to Bangkok in support of the tournament. Meanwhile, once the games begin, we discover just how baseball has gone from being the Great American Pastime to a sport that is celebrated worldwide.
