Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The 54-minute Return of the Vikings is a British docudrama celebrating the valor of the Norwegians during the Nazi occupation. The principal character is the skipper of a Norwegian whaling vessel, stranded at sea when his country is overtaken by the Germans. The skipper makes his way to England, where he joins the Free Norwegian Forces and undertakes raids against the usurpers of his homeland. Return of the Vikings was filmed in both the English and the Norwegian language, the first bilingual documentary ever made in England. Michael Balcon was producer, while Charles Frend, best known for his 1948 melodrama Uncle Silas, directed the staged sequences.
