Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
In his excellent docudrama about the consequences of rape, director and writer Gary T. McDonald has scripted scenarios of policemen/women, lawyers, medical personnel, counselors, friends, and others who intervene at different points in the victim's progress into and through a court case. These re-enactments of procedures at each step along the way are interspersed with real-life scenes of training at the Austin Rape Crisis Center, presenting a total picture of the trauma suffered by the rape victim and how society handles her suffering. This documentary won the Best Feature Length Documentary prize at the 1984 Athens film festival, and it also won the 1984 Grand Prix at the Mostra du Film d'Epernay in France.
