Synopsis by Bhob Stewart

With a title reference to famed author-ecologist Rachel Carson (The Sea Around Us), this documentary examines various avenues associated with the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, plus a look at possible contributing causes, including electromagnetic fields, birth control pills, X-rays, plastics, DDT, and atomic fallout. Eight women, battling the disease, seek answers by questioning researchers, doctors, and pesticide authorities in this film from the Bay Area's Oscar-winning documentarians Allie Light and Irving Saraf (In the Shadow of the Stars, Dialogues with Madwomen). Shown at the 1997 Mill Valley Film Festival. The TV premiere of Rachel's Daughters was October 1, 1997 on HBO.
