India's famed director Satyaji Ray took time out from his fictional dramas to direct and write this interesting documentary on his fellow Bengali, Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore was born into a family of fourteen children in 1861, and since he first started writing poetry at the age of seven, his vocation appeared early in his life. (He won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913). Director Ray aptly draws out the inner world of the young poet as he struggles with his writing and other personal problems. Still photos, archival footage, and enacted clips are combined to portray the young Tagore and how he came to his decision dedicate himself to the literary world.
