A four-way affair is the focus of this story. Philippe, a magazine editor, is planning to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Paulette, a successful stage actress. The problem is that Paulette is drawn to a handsome American movie star named Carl Erickson. Meanwhile, Paulette's friend Claudine, a perceptive reporter, watches from the sidelines as everything unfolds and provides the final piece to this affair.
