Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
When director Nick Deocampo was young, his emotionally-troubled father abandoned his wife and children and simply disappeared. This documentary journal reflects Deocampo's fruitless investigation into the disappearance. Deocampo's father Leonardo was traumatized at an early age when in 1942 he watched Japanese soldiers behead his father. When he hit his teens, he joined Axis guerillas and witnessed even more horrible violence. These early experiences may have contributed to his alcoholism and abusive temperament. Interspersed amongst the documentary scenes are dramatic reenactments of the events that have so colored the filmmaker's life.
