Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This comedy-melodrama, adapted from the stage play by Mark Swan, is fairly routine. Southern plantation owner Major Silverthorne fires a field hand, Judas (Charles LeMoyne), who later murders him and steals his infant daughter, Selma. Silverthorne's will decrees that his estate should go to Selma, providing she's found within 20 years. If she can't be located, then it goes to his niece and nephew. Selma (played as a young woman by Vivian Reed) eventually runs away from the violent household in which she has been raised and befriends a tramp, Waggles (Frank Weed). The locket which proves Selma's identity is stolen, and before she gets it back, Waggles has to do battle with one of the badguys and a houseboat is blown to bits. But finally, the locket, and the plantation, are returned to their rightful owner.
