The athletic William Russell was well-cast as a boxer in this solid but stereotypical drama. Jack Hastings (Russell) is better known in the boxing ring as Handsome Jack Bronson. He fights because he loves it, but when he meets wealthy debutante Thelma Everett (Francelia Billington), he decides he loves her more than the ring. She marries him on the condition that he give up his boxing career and settle down. Jack becomes a contractor but can't quite get his business off the ground. It doesn't help that his attempts are being thwarted by Thelma's disapproving father and Warren Leonard, her rejected suitor (Paul Weigil). Jack's company finally goes under, and to make matters worse he discovers that Thelma had invested fifty thousand dollars in an attempt to save it. He's determined to get that money back, so he decides to return to the ring and fight for the world championship. Because he has returned to boxing, Thelma believes he no longer loves her so she leaves him. But when he wins the fight against Hogan (Al Kaufman -- incidentally, a famed pugilist of the day) and pays back the money she lost, they reconcile.
