Synopsis by Janiss Garza

After making a heroic show at Akbar, Captain Leigh Dering (Bert Lytell) returns to London and marries Jean (Seena Owen), who comes from a rich family. But he becomes bored with his easy life. When he discovers that Jean's adored father has been murdered by a woman he betrayed, Dering sees his way out. He takes the blame and disappears. Everyone assumes he is dead, but he actually has become a derelict living in India. Jane marries one of Dering's fellow officers, Captain Richard Willoughby (Landers Stevens). Willoughby takes Jean to India and he turns out to be a cruel and brutal character. He mistreats both Jean and Dering's little boy, Billy (Mickey Moore). When Dering sees Billy, it leads to his regeneration. Willoughby, meanwhile, is killed because he took advantage of the sister of the Rajah (Edward Cecil). With his death, Dering and Jean are reunited. This picture was based on a novel, The Temple of Dawn, by I.A.R. Wylie.
