Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Saturday-a.m. children's show Prehistoric Planet was largely comprised of footage previously seen on the BBC/Discovery Channel prime-time offerings Walking With Dinosaurs and Walking With Prehistoric Beasts. Using digital animation based upon the research of paleontologists and anthropologists, the series did its best to re-create the world and the creatures of the Triassic Period, or "Ice Age." Thus the viewer was treated to living, breathing incarnations of the Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Ornithocheirus, Liopleurodon, and the rest of the gang. The scripts, refashioned for youthful viewers by Stone House Productions, were jauntily narrated by comic actor Ben Stiller. Prehistoric Planet first aired on October 5, 2002, as part of the three-hour Discovery Kids on NBC Saturday-morning programming block.
