Synopsis by Mark Deming

Alcohol helps bring a family together (there's a switch!) in this independent comedy drama. Rex (Anthony F. Hamilton) is a successful game show producer who has fallen into a depression since his wife Claire (Beatrix Ost) left him to take up with a fisherman. Eager to win her back, Rex persuades his estranged son Gerald (Dominic Hamilton-Little) to pay a visit, hoping that a family reunion might soften her heart. Gerald, a flamboyantly gay performance artist, joins his dad as Rex does research for an upcoming book on mixing cocktails. Father and son struggle to settle their differences as Rex attempts to master a complicated multi-layered drink, the Pousse Cafe. Pousse Cafe marked the feature debut for writer and director Susan Winter.
