Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

In this moving drama, a boyish prank leads to a terrible tragedy. The story is set in Alma Ata, the capital of Kazakhstan in the spring of 1979 on the day the school year ends. Happy to be free for the summer, three teenaged boys (played by non-professional actors), Valera, Karim and Jacob celebrate by drinking vodka, smoking marijuana and listening to Beatles tunes. The mixture intoxicates them and emboldens them to break into a local bar to steal a guitar and amplifiers. They hide the booty at Valera's house. Unfortunately, his stepfather finds it and reports the boy to the police. After they arrest him, the angry Karim and Jacob retaliate by playing a prank to teach the stepfather a lesson. Unfortunately, something goes terribly wrong and they kill him. Meanwhile the police brutally interrogate Valera and then dump his battered body at the side of the road. Karim and Jacob find him and take him to a safe place in hopes that it is not too late to save him.
