Synopsis by Sarah Ing
Part American and part Japanese, sculptor Isamu Noguchi lived simultaneously in two different worlds. His lifelong romance with serenity was balanced by his dynamic mediums. This program documents the work of this leading Modernist. Noguchi's childhood in Japan instilled in him a respect for the traditional forms while his American training led him to experiment with the Modernist style. Working in stone and marble, Noguchi designed long-lasting legacies in both countries.
