Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Originally telecast in Japan beginning in 2000, the weekly, half-hour anime series Megami Kouhosei cast its spotlight upon a group of good-looking teenagers, all undergoing special training at Space Station GOA, to become starship pilots on behalf of the Ingrid, or "Goddess" Mecha (the leaders of which were amply endowed, armor-wearing females). This, of course, took place in a post-apocalyptic future, when the last vestiges of Mankind had retreated to the Planet Zion. The villains, who had already devastated the Earth, were ironically known as "the Victim," but they intended to make victims of the surviving humans at the first opportunity. The main character, a young pilot candidate named Zeno Enna, was gifted with a mysterious energy force known as EX. Titled Candidate for Goddess in most English-speaking markets, Megami Kouhosei was telecast as Pilot Candidate when it aired as part of America's Cartoon Network weekend lineup in 2002.
